Challenges and characteristics of pig slurry

One of the biggest challenges is achieving a homogeneous and flowable consistency. Without regular stirring, floating blankets and layers of sediment often form, which cause blockages and making it difficult to distribute nutrients evenly. Compared to other types of slurry, pig slurry has a lower solids content. The dry matter content (DMC) is around 4.0 %, which is significantly lower than the DMC content of cattle slurry, which is over 8.1 %. This proberty makes pig slurry it easier to pump and spread. Robust, solids-tolerant and corrosionresistant pumps and agitators are essential to ensure even mixing and prevent deposits.
